Why it suits you: Damp-heat types who have had their fill of hotpots and roast meats often get a bitter taste and breakouts. Cucumber and pear both clear heat and generate fluids, so this juice takes the edge off.

Method

Prep 10 min · Cook 0 min
  1. 1Wash the cucumber, leave the skin on, and cut it into pieces, discarding the soft centre.
  2. 2Peel and core the pear and cut it into pieces.
  3. 3Blend both with the cold water until smooth.
  4. 4Stir in the honey and drink straight away.

Cautions

  • Drink less, or let it lose its chill, if your stomach runs cold and you tend to loose stools.

Chef's tips

  • Leave the cucumber skin on for a fresher flavour.

The TCM view

Cucumber is sweet and cool, clearing heat and draining water; pear is sweet and cool, clearing heat and generating fluids; a little honey moistens. Cool and light, it suits damp-heat types at the solstice.
