Why it suits you: Blood Stasis shows as a dull complexion and cold hands and feet, and the lingering cold of the Start of Spring makes blood move even more sluggishly. Black beans move blood, red dates and ginger warm the middle and black rice nourishes blood.
Method
Prep 5 min · Cook 40 min- 1The night before, wash the black rice and beans and leave them to soak.
- 2Put them in a rice cooker with the soaking water, red dates and ginger on the congee setting with a timer for the morning.
- 3It is ready when the beans are soft; sweeten lightly if you like.
Cautions
- Black beans are hard to digest; with a weak stomach, half a bowl is enough.
The TCM view
Black beans are sweet and neutral, moving blood and supporting the kidneys. Black rice is sweet and warm, nourishing the kidneys and warming the liver; red dates and ginger warm the middle and nourish blood. Warm without being drying, it supports the free flow of liver blood in spring.
