Why it suits you: Blood Stasis calls for gentle warmth and keeping things moving. Turmeric is pungent and warm and moves blood and qi, onion disperses stagnation, and chicken warms the middle. As Frost's Descent cools, apple instead of sugar keeps this curry sweet, warming and light.
Method
Prep 15 min · Cook 30 min- 1Skin the chicken, cut it into pieces and toss with a little salt. Core the apple, grate half and dice the rest.
- 2Heat the oil and soften the onion over medium heat for about 3 minutes. Add the turmeric and curry powder and fry gently for 30 seconds.
- 3Add the chicken and fry until it changes colour. Add the carrot, grated apple and water, bring to the boil, then cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
- 4Add the diced apple for 5 more minutes, then simmer uncovered until thick. Season with salt and serve with rice. For lunchboxes, make it the night before.
Cautions

The TCM view
Turmeric is pungent, bitter and warm, moving blood and qi and easing pain; onion is pungent and warm and moves qi and blood; chicken is sweet and warm and builds qi; apple is sweet, sour and cool, generating fluids and offsetting the spices' dryness. Warming and moving without overheating.
