NeutralResolves phlegmLight and easy to digest

Why it suits you: In damp, cold Minor Snow, a phlegm-damp constitution needs light food; nori resolves phlegm and shrimp adds savoury flavour without oil.

Method

Prep 5 min · Cook 10 min
  1. 1Soak the rice noodles until soft.
  2. 2Boil the stock with the dried shrimp for 2 minutes.
  3. 3Add the noodles for 3 minutes, then the lettuce.
  4. 4Tear in the nori and finish with pepper and spring onion.

Cautions

  • Dried shrimp is salty, so skip extra salt.

Chef's tips

  • Add the nori last so it keeps its texture.

The TCM view

Nori is salty and cold, resolving phlegm; dried shrimp is warm; white pepper warms and dries damp.

Seasonal principle

The weather turns colder. Focus on warming the Yang energy and nourishing the Kidneys with nutrient-dense foods. Keep your head and feet particularly warm, as these are areas where cold easily enters. Consume warm soups and stews to maintain core body temperature.
